  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
  3. On the Security tab, click the Custom level button.
  4. Scroll down the Security Settings list until you see ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
  5. For Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls, click Enable.
  6. Scroll down to Download signed ActiveX controls and click Enable or Prompt.
  7. Scroll down to Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins and click Enable or Prompt.
  8. Scroll down to Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting and click Enable or Prompt.
  9. Click OK, and then click OK again.

How to disable ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer.(Only versions 9 and above)

When visiting a webpage containing ActiveX controls, Internet Explorer will prevent the controls from loading. Internet Explorer displays an icon in the address bar to indicate that the ActiveX controls have been filtered:

If you visit a webpage that contains ActiveX content you want to view, filtering for that website can be turned off. Click the icon to display the fly-out window.

From here you can choose to turn off ActiveX Filtering. Once action has been taken, Internet Explorer refreshes the page to ensure that all ActiveX content on the webpage runs. After ActiveX Filtering for the webpage, the icon on the address bar changes state accordingly.
